How do I update Windows?

Your Windows devices are automatically updated depending on the patching schedule set for your organization. However, patching schedules may be missed at times, and you may have skipped a patch install. To ensure that you have an up-to-date system:

  1. Go to Start and type Windows Update.
  2. Click on Check for Updates. This will open the Windows Update settings.
  3. Click on the Check for Updates button.
  4. Wait for the process to finish. You may work while your computer updates.
  5. Restart your computer after updates are complete. You can find instructions on how to restart your computer here.

How often are patches applied?

Patches are applied automatically every week.

How can I tell when were updates last applied?

  1. Go to Start and type Windows Update.
  2. Click on Update history.
  3. Check the history for each update.
